So, for my birthday, me, and three friends went hiking, at the simply beautiful Jennings Peak trail near Waterville Valley, in New Hampshire. You can look in my blog and find an entry or two about the hike, as I have written about it. However, one of my friends brough a camera with her, and I thought it might be wise to steal her pictures and put them on my website. So, here is a photographic rendition of my hike.
Well, the at first, the trail looked something like this, with trees, a a narrow part that doesn't have any trees where you walk and stuff. This trail doesn't look steep, but thats only because at the steep parts, everybody was too exhausted to take any pictures.
So, we hiked upwards, and in the words of the somewhat immortal James Bogue "leaped gazelle-like up the mountain." Anyway, so if you've ever been hiking before, you know that its walking uphill for long periods of time, taking breaks for water and air, and eventually you get nice views. The first couple of views, we didn't take photographs of, or I forgot to scan them in, or something, but eventually, we got a few views.
For instance, this view. The trail is kinda near Waterville valley, a big ski resort in New Hampshire. Anyway, you can look down upon the resort town from the mountain, and if you have a camera, you can in fact take a picture of it.
Here is another view, this one is just right of the last picture. You can see the the shadows of clouds on the ground. I'm not quite sure what those packets of trees are, or how they got there. But, they are there, and we took a picture of them. Anyway, these views are really quite majestic, and if you ever have the chance to climb Jennings Peak, or any other mountain in the white mountians, do it.
I'm not sure how well you can see it, but this is a really cool rock ledge which juts out, and makes the perfect place to eat lunch. Which is exactly what we did. However, one of us was too scared to go out there. I won't mention any names, but it might have been Seth.
This is, from left to right, Seth, Melissa, Myself (Garrett) and Brittany.
Melissa, relaxing.
Brittany. You can see how she's standing on something lower than the rock ledge were on right there. Well, where she's standing is where we ate lunch. I think that blueish gray blob in the corner of the picture might be my shoulder. But I really don't know.
On the hike down, we walked alongside a river for most of the trail. The river is pretty nice, and we decided to take a picture of it. Well, that was my hike. We all had a good time. And if it wasn't for the traffic, racially insensitive comments, opening of car doors while on the interstate, and unrealized promises of gigantic gingerbread houses, the hike would have been perfect. But, hey, I'll take what I can get.
